Child Hypnotherapy

How can Hypnotherapy help my child?

¨ Does your child have a fear or is anxious or troubled for apparently no reason?

¨ Does your child have an unusual habit, or behave in a strange way for which you can find no explanation?

¨ Do you have a general concern that your child is not as happy as they could be, and wish there was something you could do about it?

If you can relate to any of the above situations you will be interested to learn that hypnosis has proven extremely effective in treating a wide range of children's problems.

How quickly will I see if the treatment has worked?

Changes maybe small at first and parents must aim to relax and not ’watch’ their child too closely.  You will usually see a change within 7 to 14 days, however, there are three potential outcomes:

1. The therapy has been totally successful.

2. The therapy has aggravated the symptom.  This is in fact a good sign proving that the therapy has got close to the cause of the symptom but that a further session is required in order to release the remaining emotions that have been repressed surrounding it.

3. The therapy has had no effect.  In this case there would be no point in repeating the therapy at this time.  Alternatives would then be to seek another type of treatment or perhaps bring you child back when he/she is older.

How long does the session last and where does it take place?

The session lasts between about 1 to 1 ½ hours and take place in the relaxed comfortable atmosphere of my home in Sidcup.

How much does it cost?

I charge £50 per session (in the case of children I do not charge extra if the session extends to 1 ½ hours).

What's the next step?

The next step is to get in touch so that we can have a chat and I can tell you more about this type of treatment. Once you decide that you'd like to go ahead call me to make an appointment.

What will happen during the session?

The technique that I use for working with children is a simple, yet powerful, one-session hypnotherapy treatment.  Your child will not need to delve deeply into what might be causing their symptoms, instead I will guide them towards letting go of repressed emotions by using a non-verbal release technique.

This session will start with me getting to know your child in order that I can make a full assessment of whether the treatment is likely to be successful for them.  If I believe it can then I will move straight into the treatment work.  If I don’t think hypnotherapy is suitable for your child at that time I will close the session and no charge will be made.

Occasionally a follow-up session is required.

What is hypnosis & how does it work?

Hypnosis enables us to sidetrack the conscious, thinking side of our brain and tap into the subconscious which is intuitive, imaginative and emotional.  It’s very childlike and will simply respond to stories, music and imagery and is very accepting of change as it doesn’t have the restrictions of the left, analytical side of our brain.

It is a naturally occurring state . . . something we all experience every day. That daydream state, where your mind wanders, where you shut out the things you don't want to hear, when your child gets 'lost' in their favourite cartoon or game and you can’t get them to answer your call.

Can you really hypnotise children?

Absolutely. In fact they are brilliant at  it.  The majority of children find it an enjoyable, pleasant and even interesting experience as it uses a skill that all children are naturally very good at - playing with their imagination.

Can you help children of all ages in this way?

No. I can only work with children from about 5 or 6 years and upwards.

Can I stay with my child while it is taking place?

Yes, I ask that at least one parent (both preferably) be present during the sessions.

What specific problems can you help with?

Parents bring their children for a variety of different treatments but here are a few:

¨ Fear

¨ Worry and Anxiety

¨ Unhappiness

¨ Bed Wetting

¨ Nail-biting

¨ Blushing

¨ Hair pulling

¨ Sleeping problems
