A midwive-led birth house HypnoBirth in Zurich

Hope you are well and looking forward to Christmas! Our baby girl arrived last week on December 2nd, 5 days overdue but still in good time to be able to go to the midwife-led birth house in Zurich and without any complications. I had finished work and been in Zurich for 7 weeks so plenty of time to prepare, including two sessions of acupuncture, swimming/walking, and listening to the hypno for birth mp3s. I found I preferred the 54321 and cushion of comfort tracks so mostly stuck to those.
In the event the labour was very fast - first signs around 10:30pm, went to bed around midnight with mild cramping and Iistened to 4 cycles of hypno mp3s to help me doze. Around 1:30am they were clearly contractions c. 2 mins apart and I started vomiting so we went to the birth house; that was the most difficult part being in the car unable to move and feeling sick, but once in the birthing room lying down I could manage it better. It then passed very quickly - in the pool until fully dilated, took a Buscopam (muscle relaxant), spent some time lying down and on the birthing stool, always needing Chris to put pressure on my lower back for each surge. It was too fast and intense to think clearly about much, I was half asleep for most of it and trying to stay relaxed and breath through it all, didn't want any music or any other distractions. Robyn was born just before 7am, bigger than expected at 8lb 5oz (I had measured quite small) with just a small internal tear that didn't need stitches.
Afterward Chris said he felt very involved, and that he thought I was amazingly calm. I felt it was all manageable until the very end when the head was out but she kicked me twice inside, we both remember me exclaiming then but with the next surge she was out. All a positive experience, though we were pretty exhausted as it had happened overnight. It wasn't easy but the only brief moment of feeling that I couldn't cope was in the car. If I have another one I will probably stay at home or head to the birth house much earlier!
